Part Seven: Additional Know-how Make a Wise and Polite Complaint

第25页:外出就餐的美好期待

  • When dining out, we hope everything will be perfect-nicesurroundings, good food and good service. Sadly, that's notalways the case. The wine may be wrong, the service might bedisappointing, or something else goes wrong in the restaurant. When that happens, what can you do about it?
  • Most people may immediately choose to complain aboutwhat's bothering them and have their voice heard. Thissometimes does not work out as we expect simply because thelanguage we choose is not right. Remember no matter howunpleasant the situation, it's best to express your complaintpolitely. When complaining about your issue, you should beassertive, but not aggressive. If you approach the situationwith angry words, people tend to react defensively, and you'remore likely to be met with hostility instead of understanding.

第27页:表达之外也要倾听

Besides speaking out how you feel, be prepared to listen. Just asyou want to be heard, the person you are complaining to also hasa right to be heard the same way you deserve. After you've madeyour position clear, step back and listen attentively to theresponse, even if you don't agree. It shows you to be fair andwilling to work through the problem. If you approach theproblem with due respect to people involved, it is more likelyyou will effectively be heard and have your problem solved.
